Marty Merlo-Kuepper-Koellner finds her grandmother Lena Girotti Merlo's grave site at the Dawson Cemetery. Lena was buried there in 1911. Marty's grandfather, Joe Merlo, was also a Dawson miner. Dorothy Mattivi Martin hiked around the old remnants of Dawson. Dorothy's grandfather, Ben Mattivi, was a coal miner and played the accordian along with other Italian musician miners of Dawson in the early 1900's.
